From the makers of award-winning Dexteria, Dexteria Jr. is a set of hand and finger exercises to develop fine motor skills and handwriting readiness. The activities are specially designed for kids age 2-6. New characters, sprite animations, music, and sound effects all add up to a fun and engaging experience for toddlers and preschool-aged children.

Dexteria Jr.s unique hand and finger activities take full advantage of the iPads multi-touch interface to help build strength, control, and dexterity.

For best results the exercises should be done on a regular basis in short sessions. The exercises are designed to be repeatable and engaging.

The automatic tracking and reporting feature makes it easy for parents, teachers and occupational therapists to identify time on task and progress. You can email the progress reports right from the app itself.

Multi-user tracking is available as an in-app purchase. (Note to Volume Purchase Program customers: Consider buying Dexteria Jr. VPP instead. It includes multi-user tracking and you will pay a lower net cost than if you buy Dexteria Jr. and upgrade each copy via the in-app purchase. Just search "Dexteria Jr. VPP" in the app store.)

Pros and cons of Dexteria Jr. - Fine Motor Skill Development app for iPhone and iPad

Dexteria Jr. - Fine Motor Skill Development app good for

My 4 year old grandson is really enjoying this app, and even his 2 year old sister is working on it. Very good for their fine motor skills and dexterity. Best $3.00 Ive spent. Nana D.
Everyone I work with loves this app because its introduced as a game which they love to play naturally. We have made it part of our daily sessions.

Some bad moments

This is a wonderful app, with fun characters and features! Strongly recommend for any pediatric OTs and addresses the fundamental skills for writing/pre-writing in a fun and engaging way.
So far I really like this app and will use it with my kids at school. I would like to see a feature that lets you choose the starting level for the tracing. I have some kids who are able to do the starting levels very easily. It would be nice to have them start at the more challenging levels. It would also be nice to see letters and numbers added. I know these are in the other Dexteria app, but it would be nice to have them here too using the same kind of images and graphics that appeal to younger children.
I love this app!!! It is the perfect answer for those kiddos, for whom the regular version of Dexteria is just a bit too difficult for! I highly recommend it for those who have kids with fine motor issues that effect their hands a lot, for example, Cerebral Palsy. The graphics are appealing to kids as well! one of the games is squish the squash, and of course, h son finds that very funny! great OT app, all around!
I like the activities in this app, however it is quite expensive for just these three simple activities. My three year old gets bored in just a few minutes. I wish I hadnt spent the money.
Our twins love this app. Lots of giggling. Very engaging and fun. Love the music!
I am on occupational therapist working with students who have difficulties with visual motor skills. This app has really appealed to both my students and to me. My students enjoy the tracing activity the best. They first have to trace the lines within a specified area and then erase the lines they have drawn. After erasing their lines, the app takes a picture of the student, but each level/picture is different. Some pictures look like what you would see if you looked in a mirror at the carnival, some pictures are swirled, etc. The kids really love seeing what they are going to look like at each level. I like it because it is a motivating way to practice pre-writing skills. I also appreciate how it tracks accuracy. The only thing I dont like is that you cant choose which level you enter at. But I am guessing that that will change with an update.
